Asia’s Longest High Speed Track Opens In India

Asia’s longest high speed track for automotive testing inaugurated by Union Minister Prakash Javadekar in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This is the longest high-speed track in Asia. is also the fifth longest track in the world. This track will used for automotive and component testing by automobile companies in Pithampur city of Indore.

The track measures 11.3 km, through which the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) will measure the maximum speed capabilities of high-end cars and other categories of vehicles. Development and homologation testing of all types of vehicles will also conducted on this four-lane track.

Apart from testing purposes on this track, the track can also used for supercar racing. At the same time, companies can also use the track for vehicle launches and dealer events. The purpose behind making this high-speed track in India is to accelerate vehicle testing in India. The move may help Indore become a vehicle manufacturing hub. As firms will not have to move to other cities for testing purposes.

According to the report, Asia’s longest high speed test track is 16 meters wide and oval-shaped. The facility is located 50 km away from Indore and has set up in about 2,960 acres of land. It designed for a neutral speed of up to 250 kmph and a maximum speed of up to 375 kmph on curbs. The sheer size of this testing track will prove beneficial to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) as it will able to perform a variety of automotive tests. Such as coast down tests, brake tests, speedometer calibrations, fuel consumption tests at constant speed, vehicle sound, vibration etc.
