Vaccine manufacturers can sell 50 per cent of their doses to the states and in the open market. The central government is providing free immunization facilities to healthcare workers, frontline workers and all those above 45 years of age. At the same time, the central government has said that the further vaccine (COVID-19 vaccine) that it will buy, will be Rs 150 per dose. Further, this vaccine will given completely free to the states. The vaccine that the center is also providing to private hospitals is giving Rs 250.

The Central Government has also provided an advance amount of Rs 3 thousand crore to the Serum Institute. Serum CEO Adar Poonawala then said that by the end of May, he would increase the vaccine’s production capacity by another 15 to 20 percent. By July, the production capacity could taken up to 100 million doses per month.
