Corona has completely changed the world in many ways.
Whether it is at the policy level or at the level of public behavior or healthcare system, everything has changed a lot. This change will bring more changes in the coming time. Speaking on the topic Live with Kovid at Reader’s Digest Health Summit 2021 on Wednesday, Dr Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS gave his opinion.
Dr Randeep Guleria said that in the last several years, many viruses have attacked people. In 1995, bird flu knocked, which had a mortality rate of 60 percent, but it was controlled. After this came viruses like Ebola, Zika, SARS, Even One.
Dr Guleria said that now the biggest challenge is that
How do we have to live with this virus? Right now we are not seeing it go, it will be. We have to live with this viral infection. The way we are developing vaccination and immunity. From this, it can definitely be guessed that in the coming days it will turn from pandemic to endemic.
People have become aware of health
After the arrival of this virus, there has been a behavioral change in the people. In this, prevention has become the most special among the people. Non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cancer are already there. But with the pandemic, the whole world has become one. It has completely changed everyone, now people have become very health conscious.
Today masks and other features have become a part of common life.
People have become very aware about lifestyle in this whole one and half year. Now we have to take health care in a more holistic way. Right now, at the technology level, we are not progressing that fast. Now we have to keep in mind that telehealth should be the same as it was during the second wave of Kovid. The process of tele communication will become very common in the coming times.
The importance of health will also increase in the economy
Along with this, the importance of health will also increase in the economy. Earlier health care did not take center stage at the policy level, there was not much investment in it. Now in view of the increasing needs of rural and small towns, the importance of public health has increased. The lack of ICUs, oxygen beds and drugs during the second wave of Corona has shown how we have to focus on healthcare. In the year 2018 also it was raised that despite the knock of Pandemic 100 years ago, we are not ready.
to prepare globally
Now we have to see how the infection spreads from one place to another. In the year 2013-14, Ebola was spread in Africa, a patient came to India who was cured. But we have to see that only global surveillance, communication and research can keep planet health right. If we talk about public policy, then it also has to be seen with the global plan. Where on one side five countries of the world have ordered pre-ordered vaccines. Whereas in Africa it is very slow. If not accelerated, this mutation will continue to spread globally. If not planned globally, the infection will continue to spread through travel.
