Apple was lately reported to be planning to take on OLED display for its iPad and MacBook models in 2022. Apple is reportedly planning to take on OLED displays for iPad models starting next year after absorbing mini-LED to its new 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Current Apple devices using OLED displays are its iPhone models.
New iPad Pro models could use Mini-LED displays while other iPad models would use an OLED display.
Apple will be shifting from LCD and Mini-LED screens to OLED screens for a few iPad models. Both Samsung and Apple have authorized the gathering schedule near the delivery of the screens.
Apple has confirmed that it will use OLED displays on iPad models. The small and medium-sized OLED market is expected to enter the second growth phase.
Apple decided to apply OLED in place of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) from some iPad models in 2022. It is also reported that Apple and display companies have agreed on production and delivery
The commitment to switch from LCD to OLED was done when the latter proved its ability in terms of image quality.
OLED Display Release Date
Apple may release the 2022 MacBook Air with a Mini-LED Display. The report also stated that next year’s iPad Air will also come with an OLED display.

In April, Apple launched the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a Mini-LED display and an M1 chipset. iPad Pro is available as a Wi-Fi only form as well as a Wi-Fi + Cellular variant. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro attributes a Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display. It also supports 1600 nits peak brightness for HDR.
An eventual shift to OLED panels for all iPad models is expected to follow once its production is at par with the demand.
