A Red Letter’s Day for Women’s Cricket Team as BCCI Implements Pay Equity Policy

BCCI announces the implementation of a pay equity policy for contracted Indian women cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be the same.

 

Jai Shah(BCCI Secretary) announced the BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination and tweets on this.

 

The BCCI Women’s cricketers will be paid the same match fee as their male counterparts. Test (INR 15 lakhs), ODI (INR 6 lakhs), T20I (INR 3 lakhs). Pay equity was a commitment to our women cricketers.

 

The BCCI took a great step toward women’s cricket.

 

Former India captain Mithali Raj welcomed the decision, saying: “This is a historic decision for women’s cricket in India! The pay equity policy along with the WIPL next year, we are ushering into a new era for women’s cricket in India. Thank you Jay Shah Sir and the BCCI for making this happen.

 

The Indian women’s team recently won the Asia Cup in Bangladesh, beating Sri Lanka in the final at Sylhet by 8 wickets. 

They also won India’s first-ever medal in cricket at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham earlier this year. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side lost to Australia in the final and got silver.
