Alia has played an important role opposite actor Ajay Devgn in the film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Bhansali and Devgn have teamed up again after 22 years of working together in the 1999 blockbuster ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’.
Alia Bhatt is in the role of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
The story is based on the life of Madam Gangubai Kathiawadi of a brothel in Kamathipura and is based on a chapter from the book ‘Mafia Queens’ by Hussain Zaidi of Mumbai. This is the first time that Bhansali has directed Alia.
Earlier this film was to released on 6 January. But during this time producer SS Rajamouli’s much awaited period drama ‘RRR’ was about to released. Due to which it was decide to release ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ on 25 February. However, in view of the third wave of Corona, suspense remained on the release of this film as a precaution. But the makers have confirmed that the film will released in theaters next month.
