Iconic British motorcycle maker BSA Motorcycles is back. At a special event in Birmingham, UK, Mahindra Group-owned Classic Legends has unveiled the first motorcycle to be sold under the BSA name. The company has showcased the first model BSA Gold Star classic motorcycle. The BSA Gold Star is a 650cc retro motorcycle that will take on the Royal Enfield 650 twins – the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650.
There was a sale in 1938.
The BSA Gold Star was originally sold between 1938 and 1963 and was offered with several engine options ranging from 350cc to 500cc.

Bought BSA in 2016.
In the year 2016, the iconic British motorcycle brand Birmingham Small Arms (Birmingham Small Arms) (BSA) was bought by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited’s subsidiary Classic Legends for Rs 28 crore. Classic Legends had stated that the BSA brand would focus on international markets. And Europe would be the first place where the iconic brand would revived.
Engine and power.
The 2022 BSA Gold Star retains the classic design of the original model. However, the new bike gets a bigger and newer 650cc single-cylinder DOHC engine. This engine is design according to the needs of today’s times. The company has not yet disclosed the power output and other details of the new motorcycle.

‘Bike is a beautiful artwork’
The BSA Gold Star will be publicly introduced at a motorcycle live show in the UK on December 4, 2021. The motorcycle is designed and developed in the UK, and the bike will be produced in the UK as well. Anupam Thareja, Co-Founder, Classic Legends Pvt Ltd, said, “We spent hours looking at the front look, size, color and shape of the bike till the end. How does it look day and night. And all I can say is That made us dizzy. But what came out of this harmonious effort is an absolutely stunning, beautiful piece of work.
Features.
The motorcycle gets conventional round headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, LED tail-lights, wide handlebars and teardrop-shaped fuel tank. The motorcycle gets wider fenders, and new spoke wheels with Pirelli tyres. Chrome treatment can seen across the body of the bike, including the headlamps, fuel tank, engine casing and exhaust pipe. It gets a large single piece seat with an upright riding position.

Production will take place in Birmingham.
Classic Legends will produce the BSA Gold Star in Birmingham, the original home of the brand, and a technical center has already been built in the conventry to develop the motorcycle. The company is also working on electric motorcycles. In fact, the UK government has given a grant of £4.6 million (about Rs 46 crore) to BSA for the development of zero-emissions motorcycles.
Production will also take place in India.
This BSA 650cc offering has been spied testing at the Classic Legends plant in Pithampur. The company may also produce this motorcycle in India for export purposes. The new motorcycle will positioned in the premium bike segment. With a classic design, the new BSA Gold Star will come with modern equipment and the newly developed 650cc engine.
