The head of Pfizer said in an interview aired on Thursday that people may need a third dose of their company’s vaccine within 12 months of vaccination. CEO Albert Bourla also said that annual vaccinations against coronaviruses may require. In an interview to CNBC, he said, ‘We need to see what the sequence will be. And how many times we need to do it, which remains to be seen.’

He said, ‘One possible scenario is that a third dose of the vaccine will be needed. This can happen within six months to 12 months. And then annual vaccinations will needed from then onwards. But all these are yet to confirmed. He also said that the variant will play an ‘important role’ in it.

Researchers are not yet aware of how long the vaccine will protect people against coronavirus.
Pfizer published a study earlier this month that its vaccine is up to 91 per cent effective against coronavirus and up to 95 per cent for up to six months in severe cases of corona after the second dose
But researchers say that it is still a matter of further research whether security lasts after six months.
