Corona virus is rapidly taking its grip on adults as well as children. The Center on Thursday issued new guidelines related to Covid for children below 18 years of age. The first guidelines on corona were review by a group of experts on the increasing cases of corona due to the Omicron variant. After this, many new things have included in this guideline for children.
What does the new guideline say – according to the new guideline-
If steroids are use, the dosage should reduce in 10-14 days. The Center has laid more emphasis on post-Covid care. Masks are not necessary for children age five years and below. Children aged 6-11 years should wear masks properly under the supervision of their parents, 12 years and above should wear masks like adults.

Covid in children : Center issued advisory –
The ministry said that in asymptomatic and mild cases, antimicrobial drugs have not advised for therapy or prophylaxis. The use of antiviral or monoclonal antibodies is not recommend in children under 18 years of age, regardless of the severity of the infection.
The corona patient should wear a three-layer mask.
The use of steroids is not advise. Steroids have reported to be harmful in asymptomatic and mild cases of COVID-19. The steroid is advised to used at the right time, in the right dosage and for the specified day. Corticosteroids may used in all mild and severe cases. It can continued for five to seven days on medical grounds. According to the guideline, steroids should avoided in the first three to five days after the onset of symptoms as it prolongs the viral shedding.
Pay attention to post covid care
Children who have asymptomatic and mild symptoms should given proper care, vaccination (if eligible), and nutrition. During discharge from the hospital, parents or caregivers of children suffering from Covid should constantly monitor their respiratory problems. Try to bring the child back to the normal routine.
