Cyclone Asani : Heavy rain alert due to cyclone
Cyclone Asani, which formed over the Bay of Bengal, is expected to turn into a storm in the next 12 hours. Due to the effect of this cyclonic storm, there is an alert of heavy rain in Andaman and Nicobar. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the effect of Asani Cyclone, the Andaman-Nicobar Islands are witnessing rain and strong winds since Sunday.
According to Meteorological Department-
The pressure is building over southeast Bay of Bengal, about 320 km northeast of Car Nicobar and 110 km southeast of Port Blair, which is very likely to intensify into a storm in the next 12 hours. The depression over Southeast and South Andaman Sea has moved northwards. Which will turn into a cyclonic storm by the evening of today, Tuesday, March 21. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in this area.

Fishermen have been asked to stay off the coast as the first cyclonic storm of the year is rapidly moving towards the islands. After the alert of the Meteorological Department regarding the storm, the local administration has issued a warning.
