Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday questioned the delay in stopping flights from countries affected by the omicron variant of the coronavirus. He has surrounded the central government on this matter. Kejriwal tweeted, “Many countries have stopped flights from Omicron affected countries. Why are we delaying it? We had delayed stopping international flights even in the first wave. Most of the flights depart from Delhi. Delhi is most affected. Please stop the flights immediately.”
CM Arvind Kejriwal had earlier on Sunday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop flights to India from countries affected by the new version with immediate effect.
Arvind Kejriwal wrote-
He wrote, “Our country has fought a tough fight against Corona for the last one and a half years. With great difficulty and the selfless service of millions of our Covid warriors, our country has become healthy. We should do everything possible to prevent the entry of new variants, recently recognized by WHO, into India.

Many countries have suspended travel to the affected areas.
He further wrote, Many countries including the European Union have suspended travel to the affected areas. I urge you to stop flights from these areas with immediate effect. Any delay in this regard may prove to be harmful, if a patient enters India.
The World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday said in a stern warning that the new version poses a “very high” global risk. It could have serious consequences.
Compulsory home isolation of 7 days for passengers.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has revised its guidelines for travelers arriving in the country. Upon arrival, passengers from affected countries will sent for mandatory home isolation for 7 days after RT-PCR test. Passengers from other countries will be allowed out of the airport. They will be asked to self-monitor their health for up to 14 days after arrival.
