Delhi CM urges migrants to stay back

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday urged those migrants. Who were trying to leave the city to stop the virus from spreading. The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government has built night shelters in government schools. And also urged landlords to delay in taking rent.

Since the lockdown announcement, there were reports of migrants from Delhi moving to their villages. With state governments starting buses, there were reports of large circles of people across the borders across the country. As of Saturday night, there were 49 confirmed cases of the disease in Delhi.

When the lockout was announced, the PM appealed to everyone to stay where they were. There are scenes across the country of migrants trying to leave the cities and return to their villages. I want to ask them to think about their lives and the lives of their loved ones and avoid crowded places. The whole country is trying to control the situation. Kejriwal said while addressing a press conference.

He said that as soon as there were reports of freight of Corona from all over the world. In India, the entire country is acting like a team. States and Central Government are included. He said that this is not the time for politics and the country needs to work together.

He said, As your Delhi Chief Minister, I assure you that we have made all the necessary provisions to provide accommodation, food to migrants. We have given priority to stadiums for them to stay. Schools near the borders have also been designed to ensure that people can live for free.

Since the lockout, the Delhi government has been providing two meals to its night shelters. Food is also being provided in schools from Saturday. Kejriwal also made an appeal to the landlords in Delhi to assure their tenants that they would not be forced to pay the rent. In a month or two if the tenants are unable to pay due to lack of funds, I assure you that I will take care of it. It is time to work for humanity.
