The government has given strict warning to Twitter to block all accounts running under the ‘Farmers Genocide’ hashtag and remove the content related to it. Government has also sent a notice to the micro-blogging site and warned that the content being circulated. Through this hashtag is not a freedom of expression but a serious threat to the fabric of society. The government also said that punitive action will taken if its order is not followed.
In the midst of a furore over the farmers’ agitation opposing the agricultural laws. Many celebrities have become active in the country. On Twitter, hundreds of Twitter accounts have been trying to disrupt the atmosphere. Since last Saturday with the ‘Farmers Genocide’ (massacre of farmers) hashtag. On the government’s directive, Twitter blocked him only hours after he blocked.

The government also rejected Twitter’s contention that a ban can imposed only on a particular person and not on the entire handle. The government, quoting some cases of the Supreme Court, explained that at times it is difficult to decide. Which particular person can spoil the atmosphere and who does not. In such a situation, overall decision has to taken.
