Hyundai is expanding into the electric vehicle segment in India. In this episode, Hyundai Motor India has announced that it will launch the all-electric Ioniq 5 in India in the second half of 2022 under the Beyond Mobility strategy. The Korean carmaker plans to expand its battery electric vehicle range in India to 6 models by 2028.

According to media reports, the Ioniq 5 has won the 2022 World Car of the Year Award. Since then the company is planning to bring this complete car to India in 2022.

The Ioniq 5 is based on Hyundai’s skateboard platform, which is called E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform). This carmaker is the company’s first ground-up EV (electric vehicle), which is built around a battery and electric motors.

Inspired by the 80s.

The most striking feature of the Ioniq 5 is that its design is inspire by the 80s. Abroad, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered with two powertrain options. The first is a single-motor layout, which produces 169hp and 350Nm of torque and drives the rear wheels. The higher trim, on the other hand, gets a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive layout that produces a combined 325hp and 605Nm of peak torque.

800V Battery Technology.

In this version, the company has given 800V battery technology, which allows for ultra-rapid charging capability, where the Ioniq 5 can charge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes using a 220kW DC charger.
