On December 4, NASA will launch laser messaging satellite, will change the way of communication. Instead of radio frequency, this satellite will work on laser based data communication. This is how laser messages will be release from the satellite of the NASA LCRD mission. The new test of the US Department of Defense. Communication will become more secure. Time will saved, less energy will used.

NASA is going to launch such a satellite on December 4

Very soon the medium of our conversation is going to change. You may find smartphones that work on laser-based communication systems. Or help in navigation so that messages coming from space take less time. The US space agency NASA is going to launch a satellite on December 4 that will change the way of communication. Instead of radio frequency, this satellite will work on laser based data communication.

The name of this mission of NASA is

Laser Communication Relay Demonstration (LCRD). In this satellite, the data will be sent to the earth through laser. Received will be done through laser only.

This will save time. Because in radio frequency based communication, there is a possibility of data getting corrupted and delayed. Whereas this will not happen with the laser. It will send messages at high speed and the data sent through it will not be able to disturb weather, hacking or any radio frequency.

many times more powerful than radio frequency messages

Sending messages with NASA LCRD technology is also beneficial because it will be 10 to 100 times more powerful than radio frequencies. 10 to 100 times means that you can exchange messages according to the power of the laser. Can use less energy. That is, the smaller the message, the lower the intensity of the laser beam. This will reduce the stress on the spacecraft’s battery. Actually this technology is being installed in the Defense Space Test Program Satellite 6 (STPSat-6) of the US Ministry of Defense.

As soon as the satellite reaches its designated orbit

A new mission operations center has been built in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to test NASA’s LCRD technology. As soon as the satellite reaches its designated orbit, the message from the operation center will be transmitted through laser. In response to this, the satellite will also send the message back through the laser itself. During this, scientists will study the timing of the laser’s movement and the security of the messages. Apart from this, the health of the satellite, tracking, telemetry, command data and sample user data will also monitored.

Messages will come and go inside a ray of light

Laser Communication Relay Demonstration (LCRD) is a technique through which a direct path is made through light for the flow of messages. Messages going through this route are not disturb anywhere. Neither do they deteriorate in any way nor do they get delay. It is a two way route through which messages are exchange. This will be an end-to-end optical relay, which will be very difficult to break.

NASA is just testing in the launch of this satellite.

There may be an effect of weather in this test. That’s why two ground stations have built on the two mountains of Hawaii and California. These are so that if the laser relay is affect by clouds, then it can corrected. If this test is successful, then many types of communication systems including navigation, enemy surveillance and attack will completely changed in the future.
