India celebrates National Sports Day on 29 August every year. The day celebrated to honor the legendary hockey player Major Dhyanchand. This day is celebrated to spread awareness about the importance of sports in everyone’s life. The President of India, on the same day, announces several awards including Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award and Dhyanchand Award and honors prominent sports personalities.
