PM Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute in Kolkata. On this occasion, he also talked about the corona epidemic and the recently started vaccination of children. Modi said that within just 5 days there has been a record vaccination of children. More than 1.5 crore children have vaccinated in 5 days. He said that with this the country has also set a big benchmark of giving 150 crore vaccine doses.

Free treatment of 2.5 crore patients

PM Modi said that today the Ayushman Bharat scheme is becoming a global benchmark in terms of affordable and inclusive healthcare. Under PM-JAY, more than 2 crore 60 lakh patients have got their free treatment in hospitals across the country. Not only this, in the past years, the cost of medicines needed for the treatment of cancer has been reduced significantly. The government has so far provided about 11 crore doses of corona vaccine to West Bengal for free. More than one and a half thousand ventilators, more than 9 thousand new oxygen cylinders have also been given to Bengal. 49 PSA new oxygen plants have also started functioning.

90% of India’s population vaccinated.

Termed India’s record Covid vaccination campaign as a big achievement. He said that today 90 percent of the adult population of India has taken at least one dose. One hundred and fifty crore vaccine doses have been given in the country so far. More than 1.5 crore vaccine doses have been given in 5 days. This achievement is of the whole country and of every government. At the same time, he also warned the public about Omicron. The PM said that corona infection is increasing due to Omicron. We have to deal with it with all our might.

The PM also talked about medical education and said that till the year 2014, the number of undergraduate and post graduate seats in the country was around 90,000. In the last 7 years, 60,000 new seats have added to these. In the year 2014, we had only 6 AIIMS, whereas now the country is moving towards a strong network of 22 AIIMS.

Let us inform that the second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, which has inaugurated by PM Modi, has 460 beds. In this, from the diagnosis of cancer to the treatment of cancer, advanced treatment is available.
