On a recent episode of the ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ TV show, Salman Khan opened up about shaving his head for the 2003 film ‘Tere Naam’. Salman Khan had previously stated that he was advised not to do the film ‘Tere Naam’, but he still went ahead and made it happen.
Salman expressed himself as follows: “There’s a fascinating narrative behind my appearance in the film ‘Tere Naam’ that not many people are aware of. I was in the middle of filming another project when Sunil Manchanda, the producer of ‘Tere Naam’ and a very dear friend of mine, approached me and told me that I would have to become bald in order to get into character for the film.
I wasn’t sure because I was also working on another picture at the time, and I remember being sick with a fever one day when the director of the other film pleaded with me to come to the shoot. I decided not to go because I didn’t want to be bothered.”
It brought back memories of shaving his head in order to immerse himself in the flesh of his role.
“I went to the bathroom on the spur of the moment and shaved my head out of annoyance. The following day, I called Sunil ji and informed him that I had shaved my head and would be willing to participate in ‘Tere Naam’.
Everyone was actually against me making this film, but for some reason, I was drawn to it, and despite everyone’s opposition, I went on to play the role of ‘Radhe Mohan’, which was a role I had always wanted to play.”
