From January 1, 2020, passengers will have to pay more to travel on several trains of Indian Railways.
Railways Ministry said that it would be one paisa per km for regular non-AC trains and two paise per km for express trains. Also, to travel in AC, you will have to pay four paise per km now.
A passenger given Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Humsafar Express, Mahamana, Antyodaya Express, Garib Rath, Raja Rani, Jan Shatabdi, Suvidha Express, Yuva Express and many more the fare of special trains will have to pay.
There is no change in the fare of season tickets. Also, there is no change in reservation fee and superfast fee. The increase in the RAY will not apply to tickets already booked. If you have already booked a ticket, you will not have to pay any extra charges.
Delhi-Kolkata Rajdhani Express covering a distance of 1447 km, the fare at the rate of 4 paise per km will be about 58 rupees. It’s excluding service tax (GST).
To travel 1386 km on Delhi-Bengaluru Rajdhani, covering a distance of 2365 km, passengers will have to pay around 55 rupees to book tickets on Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani.
If a passenger has to travel 500 km in Shatabdi Express, the ticket price will increase by Rs 20.00. The Shatabdi Express from New Delhi to Amritsar, which is 449 km, will add about Rs 18 for a distance of 513 km between New Delhi and Lucknow.
The Mumbai Central-New Delhi AC Duronto Express, which travels 1384 km, will add about Rs 55. A ticket for the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Ernakulam Duronto Express between Kochi and Mumbai will cost Rs 64 more to cover a distance of 1600 km. On Yashwantpur Delhi Sarai Rohilla AC Duronto Express for 2367 km, an increase of Rs 95 has been made.
Earlier, Indian Railways increased passenger fares five years ago in 2014-15.
