The argument started on Tuesday after a group was accused of damaging the “Toran Gate,” which was built for the festival that takes place on Saturday.
The incident reportedly took place in Palamu Panki village. Conflict broke out between two groups when a traditional decorative hanging called the “Toran Gate” was being built over Mahashivratri section 144 imposed.
An altercation broke out between the two communities. Both groups started throwing stones at each other shortly after, which prompted police to step in. The police were able to maintain order, but the atmosphere is still tense.

In order to keep the peace, Section 144 has currently been implemented in Panki and more than 100 people have been sent there. At the scene are police officers from Tarhasi, Pipratand, and Lesliganj police stations.
There are several senior officials camped out here, including the SP for Palamu. It’s thought that some police officers were hurt during the clashes as well.
“Situation under control with teams from three police stations present. The accused will face consequences, said Palamu SP CK Sinha.
